Welcome to Russia for "range consultations". The talks will focus on bilateral relations and regional and international issues of mutual interest.

For this long-planned two-day trip, Khan arrived in Moscow the day before. He arrived in Russia just hours before Russia invaded Ukraine. This is the first visit of a Pakistani Prime Minister to Russia in the last 23 years.

The three-hour meeting was held at the Kremlin on Thursday, Pakistani officials said. The two leaders also discussed the Ukraine crisis.

A statement from Khan's office quoted him as saying in a statement that "the prime minister has expressed regret over the recent situation between Russia and Ukraine and said that Pakistan hoped that diplomacy could avert a military conflict."

Khan insisted that the conflict would not work in anyone's interest. "Developing countries have always suffered the most economically because of the conflict," he added. According to the statement, he emphasized the importance of Pakistan's "belief" that the conflict should always be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.

The two sides discussed "key issues of bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on current regional issues, including the development of South Asia," the Russian president's office said in a brief statement.

Khan is the first foreign leader to visit Moscow since Putin's recognition of Ukraine's separatist Donetsk and Luhansk republics as independent states earlier this week and Russia's invasion of Ukraine on Thursday.

পাকিস্তানের কর্মকর্তারা জানান যে, বৃহস্পতিবারের তিনঘন্টাব্যাপী বৈঠকটি ক্রেমলিনে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। সেখানে এই দুই নেতা ইউক্রেন সঙ্কট বিষয়েও আলাপ করেন।

খানের দফতর বৈঠক পরবর্তী এক বিবৃতিতে তাকে উদ্ধৃত করে জানায় যে , “রাশিয়া ও ইউক্রেনের মধ্যকার সর্বসাম্প্রতিক পরিস্থিতির বিষয়ে প্রধানমন্ত্রী দুঃখপ্রকাশ করেছেন এবং বলেছেন যে পাকিস্তান আশা করেছিল যে কূটনীতি একটি সামরিক সংঘাত এড়াতে পারবে।”

এই সপ্তাহের শুরুর দিকে ইউক্রেনের বিচ্ছিন্নতাবাদী ডনেটস্ক ও লুহানস্ক রিপাবলিকগুলোকে স্বাধীন দেশ হিসেবে পুতিনের স্বীকৃতি প্রদান ও বৃহস্পতিবার রাশিয়ার ইউক্রেন আক্রমণের পর, খানই প্রথম বিদেশী নেতা যিনি মস্কো সফর করলেন।
