The Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMP) Cyber Crime Unit has arrested a Bangladeshi member of the religious extremist organization Gazwatul Hind. He was arrested on Sunday (March 8th) in the Fakirapul area of the capital, Dhaka, on charges of plotting to assassinate a judge and police in Bangladesh.
The arrested Bangladeshi Monir Abdul Razzak (40) is a Bahraini expatriate. During the police interrogation, Monir said that he came to the country on February 26 to attack the judge and the police to complete his mission on behalf of Gazwatul Hind.
Sources in the police's cyber-crime unit said Monir used a fake Facebook account to incite people to extremist activities while in Bahrain.
A case has been filed against him at DMP's Ramna Model Police Station under the Digital Security Act.
