Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called for raising public awareness about insurance benefits in Bangladesh

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called upon the insurance companies of Bangladesh to take initiative to raise public awareness about the benefits of insurance policies.
Sheikh Hasina said, “There is a lack of awareness among the people about the benefits of insurance. I hope that those involved in the insurance sector will take appropriate initiatives to raise awareness among the people. ”
Sheikh Hasina made the remarks at the inaugural function of National Insurance Day 2022 at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in Dhaka on Tuesday (March 1). He joined the program virtually from his official residence Ganobhaban.
The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Finance and the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA).
Sheikh Hasina said, “The insurance sector needs to be fully digitalized and brought under automation for the benefit of policyholders. Everyone will be interested if the premium payment can be done digitally or through online system. Technology should be included in the insurance sector and it should be widely publicized. ”
Sheikh Hasina said, "People need to be encouraged about insurance and policyholders have to give top priority to this sector."
Noting that new strategies need to be adopted to make people interested in insurance, Sheikh Hasina said, "We need to focus on building more confidence in the insurance sector."
"If people can get insurance services within their reach, they will be interested and their lives will be safe," he said. For this, the public and private sector insurance companies have to work together. ”
Sheikh Hasina said, "Concerned people should be careful about false claimants of insurance money." Talking about the development of the insurance sector, he said, "The government will send some people from abroad to take academic degrees in actuarial (insurance-arithmetic). The government will pay for their education but they will have to return home after completing their education and work. ”
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal presided over the function and Sheikh Mohammad Saleem Ullah, Secretary, Financial Institutions Division, Ministry of Finance gave a welcome address.
